Depending on what club you intend to use, the ball position relative to the exact centre of the distance between the feet, must vary to a certain degree.
For example when a right handed player is using the driver, the ball must always be positioned
adjacent to the left heel so that the ball is positioned
at the bottom
of the swing arc thus allowing the golfer to strike the ball with less back spin.
As you progressively use higher lofted clubs, the ball position is gradually moved back
in the stance in very small steps.
But unless you are deliberately trying to create a very low shot, the ball position must always be to the left of the centre of your stance.
